The relationship between Escape and the schools is developed between the centre manager and the school principal. At this stage the educational programmes are demonstrated, and following this a link teacher is appointed, who will oversee the recruitment of pupils for the programme and also work closely with the centre manager to ensure the smoothness of the engagement.

The partnership between the school and the Study Support Centre is crucial in ensuring that the programmes are well attended by the pupils, and that the needs of the pupils and the school are met. This involves ensuring that consent is provided, transport is arranged, programmes of learning are agreed and feedback is provided on pupil’s progress.

Escape has just completed it’s first year of delivering educational programmes for children, and during that year 121 attended a 10 week literacy improvement programme. This programme was well received by the participants, most of whom provided positive feedback to the leaders.  We are currently examining various methods for evaluating the impact of the work however the feedback from the children is also a rich seam of information in this regard.

Whilst we are focused upon delivery to the above mentioned schools, we are keen to host visits by staff from schools outside this area. It is anticipated that we will seek to develop the service for a wider area in the future. Please contact the centre manager if you wish to arrange a visit.
